چکیده

B type natriuretic peptide (BNP) and its pro-peptide N terminal fragment (NTproBNP) are raised in conditions associated with abnormal ventricular structure and function and are independent predictors of survival in diverse clinical settings. Patients without raised baseline plasma BNP demonstrate an early, transient increase in concentrations following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), but longer term effects are unknown. Potential benefits of PCI on ventricular remodelling are likely to be greatest in patients with raised baseline plasma BNP concentrations, reflecting increased wall stress or ongoing ischaemia. We hypothesised that in patients with stable coronary disease and an elevated baseline NTproBNP, successful PCI would result in a significant reduction in the plasma concentration.

The Association between B-type Natriuretic Peptide Family and Successful Percutaneous Transvenous Mitral Commissurotomy: A Systematic Review

B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) level is known to increase in patients with rheumatic mitral stenosis. In this systematic review, we aimed to discuss the possible association between plasma BNP level and the success rate of percutaneous transvenous mitral commissurotomy. PubMed and Scopus databases were searched systematically, using the following key terms: “B-type natriuretic peptide” OR “BN...

Percutaneous coronary revascularization reduces plasma N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide concentration in stable coronary artery disease.

OBJECTIVES The purpose of this work was to assess the effect of percutaneous coronary revascularization (PCR) on plasma N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) concentration. BACKGROUND Left ventricular (LV) dysfunction is associated with increased plasma natriuretic peptide concentrations. The effect of ischemia resolution on plasma natriuretic peptide is not known. METHODS T...

Comparative assessment of N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide, nitric oxide and echocardiography for diagnosis of dilated cardiomyopathy in dogs

The aim of the study was to evaluate the clinical usefulness of N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-Pro BNP) and nitric oxide (NO) with echocardiography (gold standard test) in diagnosis of canine cardiomyopathy. Out of 374 cases, 82 cases showing cardiovascular abnormalities including 16 cases of cardiomyopathy were further selected for standardization of biomarkers. Significant (P

Diagnostic Value of N Terminal Pro B Type Natriuretic Peptide (NT-pro BNP) in Cardiac Involvement in Patients with Beta- Thalassemia

Background Heart failure is a major cause of death in thalassemia. The study aimed to determine the diagnostic value of N Terminal Pro B Type Natriuretic Peptide (NT-pro BNP), to early diagnose the cardiac involvement in beta- thalassemia major patients. Materials and Methods  80 thalassemia patients aged 7 to 18 years old (patients group), and 80 healthy age and gender matched controls were ...

OBJECTIVES This study aimed to investigate the clinical correlation between angiographic coronary atherosclerosis and N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide along with other known correlated factors. METHODS In total, 153 patients with a diagnostic hypothesis of stable angina, unstable angina or acute myocardial infarction were classified as group A (patients with angiographically normal c...
